Life:
Kay spent much of her youth traveling Europe with her mother after her parents separated. She picked up a bit of artistic training here and there before her first marriage (to an Italian prince). In 1937 she left for Paris (alone), where she met the Surrealists and fell in love with the painter Yves Tanguy. Her Surrealistic works labored to break free of Tanguy's more famous shadow, and are only just recently gaining recognition for their muted palettes and intriguing, sharp, draped forms,
