John Bagnold Burgess: (1830 - 1897) John Bagnold Burgess was a painter of Spanish genre scenes. The son of H.W. Burgess, a landscape painter to William IV, John exhibited works at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and the Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street. He specialized in Spanish and Gypsy subjects. He traveled frequently in Spain with his friend, the artist, Edwin Long.
